I’m on Froggy’s side
Friday March 5, 2010
After reading about my friend Michel Tetrault and his trouble with the city of Whitehorse regarding his Sir Froggy Limousine Service, I felt I had to write a comment on the issue. In section 12.1 of the proposed limousine and charter vehicle for hire bylaw, part of that section says the driver must speak and write in the English language clearly, or, at least, the bylaw is suggesting that by writing the words “cannot speak, read and write in the English language.” I believe, as Canadians, we have the right to speak, write and read in French or English in Canada. We have two recognized languages in Canada. And we are part of Canada, here in the Yukon.
The city is clearly wrong on this, and they are not impressing anyone.
By the way, when Michel talks to me I have no trouble understanding his English.
