Fish truck spills load on highway

A refrigerated truck carrying more than 30,000 pounds of halibut and sockeye salmon dumped its load on the Alaska Highway Monday after its driver lost control.
The driver, Anatoliy Oleynik, veered off the highway near the Donjek River and overturned the semi-truck and trailer. Oleynik suffered minor injuries and was treated in Destruction Bay.
The trailer’s roof and sides were sheered off by the impact of the crash, releasing the fish in a ditch. The trucking company, A&L Trucking from Everett, Washington, declared the fish contaminated.
Yukon Conservation officials are monitoring the site for bear activity.
RCMP charged Oleynik for not wearing a seatbelt.
