The Yukon RCMP have located the vehicle connected to an alleged fatal hit and run on a cyclist that took place the morning of June 13.

In an update provided the morning of June 14 police confirmed that the cyclist was killed.

“I would like to thank the public for all of their calls yesterday in providing valuable information in regards to our request for assistance in locating the vehicle. We would like to again, request some help from the community. If anyone has dash camera footage from the morning of June 13, 2024, or were a witness to the collision, please contact the Whitehorse RCMP,” said Sgt. Brent Edwards with the Whitehorse RCMP Detachment.

The Rabbit's Foot Canyon stretch of the Alaska Highway, which connects downtown Whitehorse to Porter Creek, was closed for much of the day after police were called to the the scene. The road remained closed well into the afternoon as the RCMP told the News that "multiple investigators" including a traffic collision analyst were on scene.

The vehicle that police say hit the cyclist did not remain on the scene. The RCMP appealed to the public for help locating a black Chrysler 300 or similar vehicle with damage to its front end. They announced the morning of June 14 that the vehicle had been located.

Police are especially interested in dash cam footage taken between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on June 13 in Porter Creek or Rabbit's Foot Canyon that may show the black Chrysler.
